Internal Sales Consultant

The Internal Sales Consultant (ISC) is responsible for supporting and selling our mutual funds over the phone and through virtual meetings to third-party distributors who have entered into an agreement with Aquila. The ISC will work closely with their assigned external Regional Sales Manager (RSM) to increase sales and assets in assigned Regions. The ISCs participate in ongoing sales campaigns, firm initiatives, maintaining existing Financial Advisor (FA) relationships, providing ongoing support to clients and continually qualify new leads for the external wholesalers. He/she will respond to inbound client and shareholder calls, answer product questions, and provide performance data. This position is located in our Times Square location.

Promotes the sales of the company’s mutual funds over the phone and virtually to one or more of the following intermediaries: financial advisors, brokerage firms, banks, and registered investment advisors. Answers inbound calls to respond to inquiries, support clients, and identify selling opportunities.

  • Initiates and maintains sales and service relationship with their external wholesaler(s) to promote the sale of the firm’s mutual funds
  • Partners closely with the RSM on developing the annual business plan including created targeted marketing strategies to specific FAs
  • Helps profile & qualify new leads for the external wholesaler(s)
  • Makes follow-up and thank you calls after RSM and other meetings
  • Helps drive attendance to all FA and annual shareholder meetings
  • Responsible for mailings/literature requests from RSM and other meetings
  • Assists RSM with scheduling FA appointments such as following up on pending appointments, making filler appointments around meetings already scheduled and/or helping out in case of an emergency
  • Delivers clear, convincing and well-organized telephone presentations
  • Utilizes knowledge of company products in an effort to develop business
  • Proactively follows up with clients and prospective clients in a timely manner
  • Makes proactive fund/firm update calls
  • Prepares weekly action plan and reviews it daily to determine each day’s call plan
  • Develops and maintains relationships with all producers and prospects via the phone
  • Shares timely, relevant and/or interesting sales ideas received by FAs with marketing
  • Travels with RSM at least twice per year
  • Attends firm or industry conferences as appropriate


  • Self starter
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • College degree; finance, economics, or business preferred
  • Series 6 or 7 license
